Close encounters of the sparrow kind by Kim

I finally got a photo of a Tufted Titmouse through my kitchen window. I had an unusual visitor in my yard, a Gray Catbird; I’ve seen them when visiting St Marks but not here. He didn’t stay long. Then this little Chipping Sparrow let me get about 3 feet away with my zoom lens without flying off.

Baltimore Orioles

We had an exciting new bird for our yard this week in the shape of a 1st year male Bullock's Oriole so I put out our Birdcam in the hope of catching him on video but so far we have had no luck. The Baltimore's have been coming in and here is some video of them.

A Typical Bark Butter Day

My Birdcam took 137 video clips today of the birds visiting our redbud tree that we have smeared bark butter onto. Now that it is really cold (for us anyway!) I am having to put out fresh bark butter every day. The Baltimore Orioles and Orange-crowned Warblers are going through Grape Jelly like there's no tomorrow and the Chipping Sparrows are emptying all, our feeders every day! So far we have only 4 American Goldfinches nut that number should increase daily from now on.
